According to the group, those listed for assassination are Gbong Gwom Jos; Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Gwom Rwei of Barkin-Ladi; member representing Jos South/ Jos East Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Mr. Bitrus Kaze; Chairman, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Mr. Emmanuel Loman; the governor’s son, Yakubu Jang, among others.
The group’s President, Mr. Jonathan Pwajok and Secretary, Azi Bulus Dusu, alleged at a press conference that precisely on April 22, 2013, Kaze was trailed from his resident in Jos by a gang of assassins.
Pwajok said the suspects, who drove in an unmarked brown Vectra car, trailed the lawmaker from his house to UTC Junction, along Murtala Mohammed Way.
Sensing that he was being trailed, he said the lawmaker parked his car at a military checkpoint and remained in his vehicle for over 20 minutes before the assassins took off.
Pwajok said Kaze’s ‘sin’ was his stand against the granting of amnesty to Boko Haram. He added that Kaze had been threatened by some people who were not comfortable with his position on amnesty.
While condemning what it described as a new wave of terrorism and assassination in the state, he said some people had been deployed in the state to kill innocent people and destroy property.
Specifically, he stated that were about 30 foreign mercenaries trained as kidnappers and assassins in Jos and its environs to target key traditional and political leaders in the state.
Pwajok said, “What saved Kaze’s life was the fact that he drove to military checkpoint at the UTC Junction along Murtala Mohammed Way where he parked and remained inside his car for over 20 minutes.”
He called on the indigenes of the state to be watchful and alert security agents immediately they notice strange movement of people in their areas, adding that the police had been notified of the attempt on the life of the lawmaker.
However the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Chris Olakpe, who spoke to our correspondent on the development, said he had yet to receive such report.
He said, “No such report has been lodged in my office or in any police station and if I receive such report, it will be thoroughly investigated.”
