The
Joint Military Task Force (JTF) in Kano has arrested a man suspected to
have masterminded the attack on the convoy of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji
Ado Bayero.
It was also learnt that arms and ammunition were recovered from the
suspect during a raid carried out at his residence at Dorayi in Kano
metropolis by the security operatives.
A security source told THISDAY Wednesday on condition of anonymity
that the mastermind of the attack was arrested in his residence.
He also added that in the course of the search, an old man was arrested
and when his house was searched, four AK 47 rifles were discovered which
also eventually led to the arrest of two other persons.
The source revealed that the house in which the dangerous weapons
were discovered was immediately demolished by the security operatives.
The source revealed that the arrest of the mastermind of the attack
led to so many raids which resulted in the arrest and discovery of
weapons from the suspects, adding that the operation is still ongoing as
at the time of filing this report.
When THISDAY in Kano contacted the spokesman of the JTF, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, he declined comment on the issue.
