Gunmen ambush STF patrol in Plateau


Men of the Special Task Force (STF) in charge of security in  in Barakin-Ladi Local Government Area of the Plateau State escaped death by a whisker, on Thursday, when some gunmen, who had been terrorising the area, waylaid some of the STF men on patrol and opened fire on them.
According to a statement signed by the Media/Information Officer of the STF, Captain Salisu Mustapha, in the shootout that ensued, four of the gunmen were shot while one  was arrested by the task force operatives.
The STF pointed out that the operatives were on a patrol at Maijankai village in Barakin Ladi Local Government Area  when they encountered the gunmen.
Said he: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the gunmen were on their way from Bauchi state to Jagindi village of Sanga local government area of Kaduna state before the incident occurred.”
The STF spokesman said that the injured gunmen were handed over to the police, who took them to Barakin Ladi General Hospital for tor eat kent, while the fifth is being interrogated by the task force.
Captain Mustapha warned those intent on disturbing the peace in the state to think twice and the task force was ready to confront them headlong.
