Interior Minister, Senate Leader mourn Saraki

MINISTER of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has expressed sadness over the demise of Senator Olusola Saraki, saying the transition of the political icon was a monumental loss to the nation and marks the end of an era.
Moro, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. George Udoh, described the late Turakin Ilorin as a “nationalist, a great patriot and mobiliser, the defender of the defenceless, the voice of the voiceless,  a kind- hearted celebrity, a notable achiever and a philanthropist” whose life and times were largely dedicated to the improvement of the living conditions of the poor and the downtrodden in the society.
He added that the former Second Republic Senate Leader would be greatly missed for his knowledge, resourcefulness, invaluable expertise and the roles he played in the politics of Nigeria.
The minister also pointed out that his leadership panache brought into the Northern Union also led to stability of the Nigeria polity.
He noted further that the late nationalist stood for what Nigeria required to progress in the comity of nations and hard work that will live after him.”
He prayed God to grant him eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
In the same vein, Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), has described the late Saraki as the end of an era in Nigerian politics.
Ndoma-Egba, in a statement, said that Saraki was also an ardent believer in democracy, adding that “he tenaciously believed that democracy was the way to Nigeria’s greatness and the path towards arriving at its rightful place in the comity of developed nations.”
Senator Ndoma-Egba also noted that the deceased remained a consummate party man who influenced the formulation of the legislative agenda of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the Second Republic.
“A chapter in the history of Nigerian politics closed with the death on Wednesday, of the death of Senator Olusola Abubakar Saraki. Nigeria has lost a wealth of political experience with the passage of a great tactician and politician.” he said.
