Lam’s death, a big loss to Nigeria —Gani Adams
national co-cordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress, Chief Gani Adams, has described the death of a former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adeshina, as “a big loss to Nigeria.”
Adams, in a press release signed by him made available to Saturday Tribune also described the late governor as a man worthy of emulation
The OPC chief, on behalf of the organisation, expressed his “deepest sadness” with the families of the late former governor and Nigerians in general
He noted that Alhaji’Lam’s death “has robbed Nigeria of a man of peace” and who, according to him, “will be greatly missed.”
“Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina. {Baba Lam} was at the forefront of the struggle against military rule, during which he displayed an uncommon trait.” the statement reads
It further reads that ‘’ He was selfless and always ready to offer a hand of assistance to the less-privileged. His death has brought an end to a chapter in the politics of Oyo State and Nigeria atlarge.
Adams , while speaking on the tenure of the former governor said that As governor of Oyo State,he was modest and dedicated to leaving a legacy that will outlive him in the politics of the state. It was tohis credit that during his tenure as governor, Oyo was peaceful and devoid of the violent politics that have characterize the state in recent times’
‘’.He was consistent with progressive politics and dedicated toserving the people. His death has denied the people of Oyo State in particular,and Nigerians at large the opportunity to continue to drink from the pot ofwisdom and peaceful co-existence which he was noted for ‘’the stament also reads
The OPC coordinator finally concluded that ‘’.Though death is sure end, we take solace in the fact that tBaba Lam lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation.”
